City of Monash

The City of Monash is the local council for Clayton and Glen Waverley, in Melbourne’s south-east. Clayton station is on the Pakenham line and the Cranbourne line. Glen Waverley station is the terminus of the Glen Waverley line. Suburban Rail Loop East includes new underground stations at Clayton, at Monash University in Clayton, and at Glen Waverley. The Monash name in that list is the planned station, not a suburb, and the station is not open. The City of Whitehorse records that Burwood, where one of the other underground stations is planned, is shared with Monash. The photograph is Jells Park in Wheelers Hill on 20 August 2006.
At the 2021 Census the Australian Bureau of Statistics counted 190,397 people usually living in Monash. The median age was 38, the same as the Victorian median on that release. There were 76,177 private dwellings, with 2.7 people per household. The Victorian figure was 2.5. The median weekly household income was $1,901.
