Doncaster
Doncaster is a suburb in Melbourne’s east, in Manningham City Council. It has no railway station. The Doncaster line was proposed from the 1890s, included in the 1969 Melbourne Transportation Plan, and never built. Bulleen, the next suburb toward the city, is on the same corridor. The photograph looks across Doncaster Hill, the rise of apartments above the houses, toward the central city.
At the 2021 Census the Australian Bureau of Statistics counted 25,020 people usually living in Doncaster. The median age was 40. The Victorian median on the same release was 38. There were 11,731 private dwellings, with 2.4 people per household on average. The Victorian figure was 2.5. The median weekly household income was $1,592.
