West Footscray
West Footscray is a suburb in Melbourne’s inner west, in Maribyrnong City Council, west of Footscray. West Footscray station is on the Sunbury line. Melbourne Airport Rail stage 1 is the upgrade from here to Albion. The named new stations on that job are Tottenham and Albion, plus extra platforms at Sunshine. The photograph is an aerial view in June 2025, looking east toward the city.
At the 2021 Census the Australian Bureau of Statistics counted 11,729 people usually living in West Footscray. The median age was 35. The Victorian median on the same release was 38. There were 5,369 private dwellings, with 2.4 people per household on average. The Victorian figure was 2.5. The median weekly household income was $1,989.
